There isn’t a lot of information about what happened here, but any crash involving a commercial truck is going to present inherent challenges. Sometimes, those aren’t challenges authorities are able to handle on their own. I’ve handled hundreds of commercial vehicle accident cases, and it might surprise folks how often independent investigations showed authorities missed something important or made a mistake in their reporting.
For that reason, there’s a general rule of thumb I’ve found that can help folks determine what next steps are best for them. Essentially, if they feel like they’re in the loop, and authorities are giving them sensible and satisfactory answers, it’s likely that authorities are doing a good job in their investigations. But if folks feel they still have doubts and unanswered questions, there may need to be more thorough investigations to ensure authorities didn’t miss anything important.
