How Did This Accident Occur?

With oncoming vehicles colliding, that’s often a sign of something like distracted driving or unsafe speeds. Those obviously warrant consideration here, but it’s important that even unusual possible factors get attention.

For example, what if there was an issue on this road with signage or markings? If analysts find that traffic is unnecessarily put in danger—for making left turns, for example—that could show there are issues with the layout of this stretch of road that confuses drivers and leads to accidents.

Is that common? Not really. Could that have happened here? Possibly, which is why a proper investigation would at least rule it out. Frankly, though, I’d be surprised if authorities even though to investigate that sort of thing without being asked to. That’s why I always find it’s best to avoid jumping to the most common explanation and instead focus on letting evidence speak for itself.

Does anyone know this stretch of road well? Are there any known issues? Let me know in the comments.
