Kaufman County, TX — May 26, 2024, Kim Hope and two others were injured following a rear-end car accident at approximately 1:00 p.m. along S.H. 198.
According to authorities, 59-year-old Kim Hope was northeast bound in a halted Kia Soul waiting for southwest bound traffic to clear on S.H. 198 in order to make a safe left turn into a parking lot in the vicinity southwest of Morris Road when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, a northeast bound Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck on S.H. 198 failed to appropriately control its speed; it reportedly crashed into the rear-end of the Soul. This collision caused the Soul to go into a spin and enter the opposing lane of traffic. There, it was involved in a collision between its right side and the front-left corner of a southwest bound Jeep Compass occupied by two juveniles ages 16 and 13.
Hope suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the wreck. The 16-year-old boy from the Jeep sustained moderate injuries and the 13-year-old boy incurred only minor injuries, according to reports. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No additional details are currently available; the investigation is ongoing.
