Accident Report
McAllen, TX — April 21, 2026, Keyla Contador was injured in car accident at about 5:40 p.m. on South 10th Street/State Highway 336.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2011 Ford Fusion was turning left from a fast food restaurant’s parking lot when it collided with a southbound 2019 Ford Fusion.
The driver of the older Ford, 25-year-old Keyla Contador, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.
The other driver, a 19-year-old woman, and a 12-year-old girl suffered minor injuries, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Hidalgo County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Did the 2011 Ford turn when it was not safe? Or was the other Ford speeding at the time of the crash? Did a mechanical issue contribute to this crash? The only way to answer these questions is to wait until the investigation of this crash is complete.
Authorities likely will rely on witness statements, physical evidence, data from the cars and any available video footage as they work to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time of the crash.
An outside expert could be needed to examine the vehicles if investigators suspect a mechanical problem played a role in the crash. Most law enforcement agencies lack the time or training for such an exam, in my experience, but a forensic examination may be needed to bring out the truth of what happened on South 10th Street.
