How Did This Accident Occur?
Could this crash have been avoided? Initial reports indicate that the bicyclists were riding on the service road, but it is not clear if there was room for the Volvo to get around them. Or if the SUV driver distracted, perhaps by a cell phone. Maybe her vehicle had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism.
These questions won’t be answered by assumption or guesswork; only the facts that come from a thorough investigation. That includes evidence from the scene, data from the SUV’s engine control module, the driver’s cell phone records and any available video footage of the crash.
