While details aren’t confirmed right now, I always have concerns that authorities might prematurely make up their minds when it comes to crashes like this. Sometimes, certain accidents involve a negative bias that leads authorities to look for someone to blame rather than just gather evidence and let the facts speak for themselves. Single-vehicle wrecks and motorcycle wrecks are among the worst examples of these biases.
Generally speaking, folks understand the importance of consider all kinds of possible factors, likely or otherwise. Were there mechanical issues? Were there flaws with the road itself? Did the vehicle hit something? Is there a lack of signage or lighting that led to the crash? Did the victim have a medical condition? These should be included in any serious investigation. But once the victim is the sole rider of a motorcycle, people start jumping to conclusions. Maybe authorities have been thorough here and didn’t let any sort of bias get in the way. In my experience, though, that’s not something anyone should take for granted.
