UPDATE (February 14, 2024): Recent statements identified the woman killed in the crash as Kathleen Chilson Prince of Auburn, New York. The current condition of the driver injured in the crash is unclear. Authorities continue their investigations.
Allen County, IN — February 5, 2024, a woman was killed and a man was injured following a semi-truck accident at around 1:56 p.m. on Lafayette Center Road.
Authorities with the Allen County Sheriff’s Department released preliminary statements on the fatal crash. They say it happened at the intersection of Lafayette Center Road and Zubrick Road, just east of Roanoke outside the entrance to the General Motors Assembly Plant.
According to current statements, a man and a woman were in a westbound pickup which authorities say was stopped at a red light at the Zubrick Road intersection. While they waited at the light, authorities say a westbound semi-truck approaching the light somehow slammed into the back of the pickup.
Due to the collision, the woman in the pickup sustained fatal injuries. The man in the pickup was taken from the scene in apparently critical condition. No other injuries were reported. At this time, it’s unclear whether or not authorities are considering charges.
