Accident Report
Brazoria County, TX — May 3, 2026, Kate Rodriguez was injured in a suspected drunk driver accident at about 3 a.m. on Brazoria Road/State Highway 332 west of Lake Jackson.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2018 Chevrolet Silverado was heading west when it left its lane and collided with an eastbound 2011 Toyota Corolla near Blackstock Lane.
Toyota driver Kate Rodriguez, 24, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.
The Chevrolet driver, who suffered minor injuries, was cited for failure to drive in a single lane, the report states, but authorities suspect he was intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Brazoria County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Investigators likely will work to confirm, or disprove, the report’s conclusion that the Chevrolet pickup caused this crash by crossing into the wrong lane, but the probe should move beyond the scene of the crash if blood tests confirm that the pickup driver was intoxicated. The question to be answered is where had he been drinking before the crash.
It’s one thing if he was drinking at home, but more people could be accountable for this crash if he was drinking at a bar or restaurant. Under Texas law, alcohol providers can share responsibility for injuries caused by a patron who was served while obviously intoxicated.
The only way to know if that is what happened here is to dig into the Chevy driver’s actions before the crash, because the injured Toyota driver and her family deserve to know everyone who may have played a role in this accident.
