Accident Report
Danvers, MA — April 27, 2026, Justin Obert was killed in a truck accident at about 10:45 a.m. on Interstate 95.
Authorities said a 2018 Honda Pilot and a 2003 Peterbilt semi-truck were headed north when they collided near exit 70. The collision caused both vehicles to exit the road; the Honda hit a road while, while the truck overturned and hit a guardrail.
Truck driver Justin Obert, 61, of Plymouth was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to authorities.
The two people in the Honda refused medical treatment, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Essex County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear why these vehicles came together on I-95. Was one of them changing lanes? Or did the Honda or the semi overcorrect after leaving the road? Or did one of the vehicles have a problem with its steering mechanism?
Investigators must keep those questions in mind as they gather evidence about the crash: witness statements, cell phone records, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. That should help reconstruct the crash, but any outside expert may be needed if authorities suspect a mechanical defect contributed to the accident.
In my experience, most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training to conduct a forensic examination of vehicles involved in a crash like this. That should be done by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting.
Investigators, whether paid by the state or the victim’s family, should be willing to do whatever digging is needed to find the truth about this accident.
