These reports state that 47-year-old Julio Cesar Villarreal was crossing Sunshine Strip on foot from south to north at the New Combes Highway intersection when the accident took place. Authorities indicate that a westbound Toyota Corolla on Sunshine Strip struck Villarreal as he was crossing and fled the scene without stopping to offer aid of any kind to the victim. The driver of the suspect vehicle was later found, reports state.

Harlingen, TX — February 11, 2024, a male pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident shortly before 2:00 a.m. along North Sunshine Strip.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the vicinity of the North Sunshine Strip and New Combes Highway intersection.
