Hidalgo County, TX — August 31, 2025, Juanita Sanchez Martinez was injured as the result of a car accident at 11:41 p.m. along FM 1423.
According to initial details about the crash, it took place at the intersection of Val Verde Road and Roosevelt Road, north of Donna.
Investigators said that 51-year-old Juanita Sanchez Martinez was in a Chevy Malibu going northbound through the intersection. Another vehicle was going the same direction when the vehicles collided.
Juanita Sanchez Martinez was seriously injured due to the crash. The second vehicle reportedly left the scene. It was described as a pickup. No other details were reported.

It’s not clear right now if authorities were ever able to locate the runaway driver. If not, it might help if they keep putting out details into the public eye. A lot of the time, hit-and-runs see a conclusion because someone in the community is able to connect dots authorities couldn’t. That makes the wider community one of the best tools investigators have to handle hit-and-runs. My hope is efforts continue to seek a resolution here. At the very least, there should always be accountability for someone leaving an accident scene.
