Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
If it’s true that alcohol contributed to this accident, charging the alleged drunk driver might not be the end of the story. As open-and-shut as things may seem, there’s often an accomplice to these crashes: a negligent alcohol provider. Let me explain.
In Texas, bars and other establishments who over-serve obviously intoxicated patrons are breaking the law. As such, they can face consequences when that intoxication hurts or kills people. Ensuring these negligent alcohol providers are held accountable is crucial. Not only does it help victims and families see a proper resolution for their situation, but it also gets those negligent establishments to clean up their act before more people get hurt.
Did authorities here look into where this alleged alcohol came from?
