Accident Report
Shepherd, TX — March 29, 2026, Juana Andrade-Zepeda was injured in a wrong-way accident at about 10:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 59.
Authorities said a 2024 Nissan Sentra was heading south in the northbound lanes when it collided head-on with a 2024 Chevrolet Camaro. A northbound 2026 Hyundai Venue was damaged in the crash as well.
The Nissan driver, who reportedly had been drinking, died in the crash, according to authorities, while Chevrolet driver Juana Andrade-Zepeda, 36, of New Caney suffered life-threatening injuries.
The two people in the Hyundai, also New Caney residents, suffered minor injuries, authorities said.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the San Jacinto County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
As I would expect with a wrong-way accident like this, there is a suggestion that the Nissan driver had been drinking before the crash. If authorities are able to confirm that he was intoxicated, they should look into where he got his alcohol.
Under Texas law, alcohol providers are not supposed to serve anyone who is visibly intoxicated. If that happened in this instance, the bar or restaurant that served the Nissan driver before this crash could share responsibility for the injuries he caused after he decided to get behind the wheel.
This possibility must be fully investigated so those affected in this crash know as much as possible about how it happened.
