Accident Report
Willacy County, TX — May 23, 2026, Juan Hernandez was killed in a car accident at about 12:15 p.m. on Interstate 69E south of Sebastian.
Authorities said a Chevrolet Suburban towing another vehicle was heading south near mile marker 37 when it lost control while slowing down because of an earlier accident. It crashed into a Nissan Altima before hitting a pedestrian as it veered into a ditch.
The pedestrian, 33-year-old Lyford resident Jose Hernandez, died after being taken to a nearby hospital, according to authorities.
No other injuries were reported.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Willacy County crash at this time.
