Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

My concern in these situations is if authorities ever gave the details proper attention. Frankly, people are quick to jump to conclusions when it comes to motorcycle wrecks. There could be all kinds of factors involved here, from mechanical defects to missing signage to a medical emergency. But when people think of motorcyclists, they tend to just assume the rider was being reckless. That happens, obviously, but a motorcyclist seriously injured in a crash may not have been able to tell their side of the story before authorities moved on to other responsibilities. As such, it could be there are issues here which have yet to be addressed that will require more thorough independent investigations.
