Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
My hope here is that investigations are taken seriously. That’s always the hope after a serious accident, but motorcyclists in particular tend to get a bad rap. I’ve had cases where authorities outright jumped to conclusions and blamed a motorcyclist without actually considering any evidence. Then, when independent investigations clarified the facts, it turned out there were external factors beyond the victim’s control. I’m not saying that happened here, but it’s important to follow up with authorities early on and make sure they’re conducting fair, unbiased investigations.
