Joseph Murphy Killed, 3 Injured in Car Accident in Van Alstyne, TX

Officials indicate that, for unknown reasons, the Ford made a left turn at the intersection onto northbound Waco Street, State Highway 5, at an unsafe time, failing to yield the right of way to highway traffic. This resulted in a collision between the Ford and a southbound Ram 1500 pickup truck occupied by a 22-year-old woman and 54-year-old Joseph Murphy. The collision caused both trucks to spin approximately 180 degrees. The Ford then collided with a west-facing Ram 1500 pickup that had been at the stop sign at the other side of the intersection.

Murphy incurred fatal injuries as a result of the accident. The 59-year-old man from the Ford sustained suspected severe injuries while the 33-year-old woman from the Ram and the 49-year-old woman from the Ford suffered apparently moderate injuries due to the wreck. All three were transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment.
