La Plata County, CO — October 23, 2024, Joseph Monahan was killed in a 18-wheeler accident on Highway 160 west of Durango around 2:40 P.M.
Authorities are investigating an 18-wheeler accident that left one person dead and one seriously injured on Wednesday. The crash occurred on Highway 160 east of Peaceful Dr, when a Toyota driven by Joseph Monahan crossed into the opposite lane of traffic and collided with an 18-wheeler.
The accident resulted in the death of Monahan, and his wife Nancy Monahan was seriously injured and flown to a nearby hospital for treatment. A third vehicle was also involved in the accident, however no serious injuries were reportedly sustained from that vehicle.
Colorado state troopers have not yet been able to ascertain why the Toyota drifted into the opposite lane, however this accident still remains under investigation.
