San Antonio, TX — September 18, 2024, Jordynn Gibbs was killed following a semi-truck accident at around 5:00 a.m. along Southeast Loop 410.
Preliminary statements about the crash say that it happened along the side of northbound Loop 410 at the East Houston Street exit.
According to officials, 25-year-old Jordynn Gibbs was in a Volkswagen Beetle on northbound lanes of Loop 410. Due to a series of events which aren’t clear right now, a commercial truck ended up crashing into the back of Gibbs’s vehicle. As a result, Gibbs was killed. There were no other reported injuries.

Without more information, it’s important to avoid jumping to conclusions. People are often quick to assume a rear-end collision has to be the result of something like distracted driving or speeding. That’s common, but there needs to be evidence. Not only could there have been unavoidable circumstances, but even in the more likely event someone did mess up, there can’t be any room for them to muddy the waters.
Take, for example, a case I handled a while back where a semi-truck rear-ended someone. Their story was that the victim’s vehicle was disabled, and it wasn’t lit. The driver just didn’t have a chance to avoid the collision. On its face, that’s a reasonable explanation. But we took the steps to gather evidence and ultimately obtain video evidence from the truck to verify that story. The video revealed that the victim’s car was actually clearly visible with its hazards on. However, the truck driver was too busy watching shows on his tablet to bother looking up at the road. By the time he did, it was too late. With that evidence in hand, we had a whole lot more than just the odds to support our conclusion. We had clear evidence that the trucking company couldn’t hide from.
That should be the approach after any serious truck wreck. It’s not about what likely happened; it’s about proof. If authorities aren’t working to gather every possible detail to help explain what happened here, they risk missing something important and leaving the victim’s loved ones with unanswered questions. That’s why I can’t help but wonder if authorities here have taken the necessary steps to ensure there are clear answers about what led to this accident.
