Accident Report
June 12, 2026, Jonathan Savage was injured in a motorcycle versus car accident at approximately 10:30 p.m. along State Loop 12.
According to authorities, 46-year-old Jonathan Savage was traveling on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle on the offramp from State Loop 12 to Grauwyler Road when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the motorcycle was involved in a collision with a BMW occupied by a 43-year-old woman.
Savage reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. The woman from the passenger vehicle may have been hurt, as well, reports state. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
It might be tempting for people to take one look at this accident and just blame the motorcyclist. I understand that instinct, but I’m not ready to settle on that conclusion without more information. Why? Because I have been in this line of business for over three decades. In that time, I’ve come to believe that motorcyclists often get a bad rap. I’ve seen plenty of similar cases where thorough investigation ended up uncovering evidence of causes that went against the grain of stereotype. Sometimes things don’t end up having been how they initially appeared on the surface.
For the record, I’m not trying to give the impression that I know more about this accident specifically than is already public knowledge. As far as I am aware, driver error remains on the table as a possible cause. However, I would like to suggest a hypothetical. What if either the vehicles were dealing with something like brake failure or throttle issues? Have tire blowouts or steering mechanism issues been considered? I do understand that these things are not very likely, but that does not mean that looking into them would end up being a complete waste of time.
In-depth vehicle inspections done by trained professionals in a laboratory setting would be able to shed light on any underlying mechanical malfunctions or product defects that might otherwise have gone unnoticed. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get them done on the Harley-Davidson and the BMW. That way nothing important will inadvertently be allowed to slip through the cracks. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve more than the vague assumptions that often result from surface-level investigation.
