Henderson County, TX — February 8, 2024, John Lawsage and one other person were injured in a car accident just after 3:00 p.m. along S.H. 31.
According to authorities, a 19-year-old woman was traveling in a westbound Jeep Compass on State Highway 31 in the vicinity west of 2nd Street when the accident occurred.
Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Jeep failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left, crossing over the center turn lane and entering the eastbound lanes of traffic. This resulted in a collision with an oncoming Honda Passport occupied by 71-year-old John Lawsage.
Both Lawsage and the 19-year-old incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the accident. They were each transported to local medical facilities by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment.
