San Angelo, TX — November 21, 2024, John Johnson III was fatally injured due to a car versus pedestrian accident at around 4:49 a.m. along Bryant Boulevard.
Preliminary statements about the accident say that it happened near the intersection of South Bryant Boulevard and Knickerbocker Road.
According to officials, 48-year-old John Jefferson Johnson III was on foot in the area of Bryant. While on foot, a northbound Ford Expedition struck Johnson. Due to the collision, Johnson succumbed to his injuries a week after the collision. There were no other reported injuries.

Pedestrian accidents unfortunately don’t always get the attention they need. People are sometimes too quick to assume everything comes down to right-of-way. That’s important, but so are things like sight lines, visibility, signage, lighting, vehicle speed, distraction, etc. If authorities here were thorough enough to ensure nothing slipped through the cracks, that’s good. But anytime a family feels investigations were shallow or insufficient, it can be helpful to have a second set of eyes to ensure nothing important slipped through the cracks.
