Bell County, TX — February 5, 2026, John Hopkins was killed and one other were injured following a car accident at around 1:24 p.m. on Highway 53.
Investigators said that the accident took place east of Temple in the area of Highway 53 and Little Flock Road.
According to officials, 80-year-old John Reed Hopkins was in a Chevy pickup going northbound through the intersection. A Ford Transit van was going eastbound. At the intersection, the vehicles crossed paths and collided.
John Hopkins reportedly died as a result of the accident. The van driver was taken to a hospital with unspecified injuries. Additional details about the crash remain unconfirmed.
