How Did This Accident Occur?
Police contend this crash was caused because the Mercury driver failed to yield when entering the intersection, but they could have gotten it wrong at the scene. It doesn’t happen often, but that is why a full investigation is important.
What if the Mercury driver had a medical emergency before the crash? What if the car had a problem with its brakes? What if the motorcycle had been speeding toward the intersection? These possibilities, no matter how remote, should be considered as investigators work to reconstruct this accident.
Physical evidence, witness statements, cell phone records, data from the vehicles and any available video footage should help them piece together what happened, but a forensic examination of the vehicles may be necessary if investigators suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash.
The motorcyclist’s family deserves answers to any lingering questions they may have about this crash.
