UPDATE (January 29, 2024): Authorities identified the woman injured in the accident as 19-year-old Jeymi Maria Jarquin.

Lubbock County, TX — January 18, 2024, a teenager was injured following a car accident that happened at around 11:00 p.m. along F.M. 40.

According to officials investigating the crash, the incident happened at the intersection of Farm-to-Market 40 and County Road 2800, east of Lubbock.

Officials said in their statements that a 19-year-old woman was in a Nissan car going eastbound along F.M. 40. A Chrysler 200 was approaching the Nissan also traveling eastbound. The Chrysler did not avoid the Nissan, crashing into the back of the woman’s vehicle. After the collision, the Chrysler left the scene, but it appears authorities located the vehicle.

The woman in the Nissan was seriously injured due to the crash. Right now, authorities allege that the driver of the Chrysler had been drinking. No further information about the accident is available at this time.
