Accident Report
Gladewater, TX — March 15, 2026, Jett McWhorter was injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 5:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of North Main Street/U.S. Highway 271.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a westbound 2010 Ford F-150 crashed into a southbound 2010 Toyota Prius while turning left.
Toyota driver Jett McWhorter, 19, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.
The Ford driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after the crash, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Gregg County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
The indication that alcohol played a role in this crash warrants a broader indication, if it is proven to be true. Authorities likely will focus on figuring out how the crash unfolded, but if they confirm that the Ford driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash, they also should look into where he had been drinking before the crash.
Any alcohol provider, like a bar or restaurant, can be held accountable if they serve someone who is obviously intoxicated and goes on to cause injuries, under Texas law. I have no way of knowing if that is what happened in this instance, but it is worth investigating so the injured man and his family will know everyone who played a role in this crash.
