How Did This Accident Occur?

There simply isn’t enough information for me to speculate about anything. OSHA looks into anything from falls to structure collapses to negligent operation of machinery to unforeseeable medical emergencies. What’s important to keep in mind, though, is their goal is not necessarily to get the worker’s loved ones answers. Their goal is to look for potential violations and address them through recommending penalties.

Meanwhile, the family has to navigate the most complex work fatality accident laws in the whole country. Despite what many believe, there isn’t always an automatic path to getting families benefits or a resolution. It may be up to them to advocate for a fair and just resolution, which requires a lot of evidence and legal maneuvering. OSHA’s efforts can certainly be an important piece of that puzzle, but it’s often just one tool of many families need after a workplace fatality.
