How Did This Accident Occur?
At this point, it is not clear how this crash happened. Did the pickup stop suddenly? Was the motorcycle going too fast? Did either vehicle have a mechanical issue that contributed to this accident? These are the kind of questions that authorities should consider as they investigate this crash.
That means poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what the pickup driver was doing at the time.
If investigators suspect a mechanical problem contributed to this crash, both vehicles should be inspected by a qualified expert in a laboratory setting. Most law enforcement agencies do not have the time or training for such examinations, but the motorcyclist’s family deserves to know as much as possible about what happened on 42nd Street.
