Jefferson County, TX — May 13, 2024, Jerrel Redwine and one other person were injured in a head-on car accident at approximately 4:15 p.m. on S.H. 124, Fannett St.
According to authorities, a 68-year-old woman was traveling in a southbound Toyota Rav4 along State Highway 124, Fannett Street, in the vicinity south of Walden when the accident took place.
The weather and road conditions in the area at the time were reported to have been rainy with standing water in the roads. Officials indicate that, allegedly in order to pass a commercial vehicle that was parked on the right shoulder of the roadway, the Rav4 changed lanes into the northbound lane. However, this maneuver was attempted at an apparently unsafe time, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming Jeep Wrangler occupied by 42-year-old Jerrel Redwine.
Redwine suffered reportedly severe injuries as a result of the head-on collision, while the woman from the Toyota sustained moderate injuries. They were each transported to local medical facilities by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.
