How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point how these three vehicles came together on I-90. Was it a chain-reaction crash, or did the third vehicle strike one of the other two after the initial collision? Was it caused by a distracted driver, or was one of them battling a mechanical issue? The only way to answer these questions, in my experience, is to wait until the investigation is complete.
Authorities will work to reconstruct this accident, using physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show if one of the drivers was distracted at the time, but a forensic examination of the vehicles will be necessary if authorities suspect a mechanical problem contributed to the crash.
A thorough investigation like I’ve described should answer any lingering questions the injured Kia driver and her family have about this crash.
