Accident Report
Howard County, TX — April 29, 2026, Jeannie Edmondson and Billie Martin were injured in an alleged drunk driver accident at about 9 p.m. on U.S. Highway 87.
A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2014 Ram 3500 was heading west on Jeffery Road when it collided with a northbound 2014 Kia Cadenza, forcing the other vehicle to crash into a concrete barrier.
Kia driver Jeannie Edmondson, 50, and passenger Billie Ricards Martin, 84, were seriously injured in the crash south of Big Spring, according to the report. Another passenger, a 21-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
The Ram driver, who was not hurt, was charged with intoxication assault and failure to stop and render aid after the crash, the report states.
Authorities have not released any additional information about the Howard County crash at this time.
How Did This Accident Occur?
I expect authorities to reconstruct this accident as they would any other crash, but they should move beyond the scene of this crash if blood tests confirm the Ram driver was intoxicated. Where he was drinking before the crash matters.
If he was served at a restaurant or bar while obviously intoxicated, that alcohol provider could share responsibility for injuries caused after he decided to get behind the wheel. It is an avenue worth investigating so the injured women and their families will know everyone who played a role in this crash.
