Accident Report
April 2, 2026, Jeanette Cortez was injured due to a car accident shortly after 7:15 p.m. along Riverside Drive.
According to authorities, 28-year-old Jeanette Cortez was traveling as a passenger in a northbound Nissan Rogue on Riverside Drive at the Primrose Avenue intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Rogue failed to appropriately control its speed. A collision consequently occurred between the front-end of the Rogue and the rear-end of a northbound Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck.
Cortez reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Since the Rogue failed to control it’s speed, most people will believe this accident to be caused by human error. After three decades in this line of business, though, I’m am not so quick to jump to that conclusion. Is human error a possibility? Sure. But so is a mechanical malfunction. Something could have gone wrong with the Rogue’s brakes, for example.
An in-depth vehicle inspection done by a professional in a laboratory setting would be able to bring to light any mechanical malfunctions or product defects that might otherwise have flown under the radar. Hopefully the investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—get one done. That way, those who were affected by this accident will be able to have a clear understanding as to not only how, but why it took place. Vague assumptions based on surface-level investigation just won’t cut it.
