Accident Report
April 2, 2026, Jason Ward and one other were injured following a hit-and-run accident at around 2:35 a.m. along International Drive.
Investigations said that the accident happened off the corner of International Drive and Airway Boulevard. It appears that 43-year-old Jason Ward was in a Hyundai Sonata going westbound. A Kia was going northbound. Authorities said that the vehicles collided. Due to this, Jason Ward reportedly was seriously injured.
The woman riding in the Kia had reportedly moderate injuries. The driver of the Kia allegedly left the scene. It’s unclear if authorities identified or charged that driver.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Any car accident happening jut half an hour after bars close is going to raise red flags for potential drunk driving. A driver fleeing the scene only raises more red flags. So it wouldn’t surprise me if that’s what led to this crash. Other possibilities are important to investigate, of course. It’s even possible the crash was unavoidable, and the driver who allegedly fled did s for unrelated reasons.
Knowing for sure usually requires finding the runaway driver. Did authorities ever do that? Or, is the search ongoing? If so, then releasing more information to the public could help. I’ve seen hit-and-runs go cold for months only for another round of news reports to reach someone who was able to connect the dots and come forward with new information. Maybe the same could happen here, if needed.
