Carthage, TX — September 17, 2024, Jason Lewis was killed as the result of a tow truck accident at around 11:22 p.m. off South Adams Street.
Details from authorities say that the incident took place in the area of South Adams Street and Hayden Street.
It appears that 40-year-old Jason Lewis was on foot at the time by his tow truck. The truck suddenly began to roll, running over Lewis. As a result, Lewis was killed. There did not appear to be anyone else hurt in the accident.

Right now, the cause of the incident remains unconfirmed. I’m always concerned with accidents like this, since there’s a possibility (however slim) that a mechanical defect led to this accident. That’s not the sort of thing authorities are generally equipped to handle on their own. It would surprise folks to see how often authorities wrote something like this off as operator error, then it turned out they never even bothered investigating the vehicle for possible defects. At the end of the day, there’s a family in need of answers. They deserve to know that even unusual details have at least been ruled out.
