July 6, 2026, Jason Andrews lost his life due to a pedestrian versus car accident just before 2:15 a.m. on the I-45 service road.
According to authorities, 49-year-old Jason Andrews was on foot walking near the I-45 service road and Metropolitan Avenue intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, Andrews was struck by a northbound Dodge Charger.
Andrews reportedly sustained fatal injuries as a result of the collision. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When it comes to pedestrian-involved car accidents, most people think that the be-all-end-all question is who had the right of way. While I don’t want to mitigate the importance of that question, there are several other factors that will also need to be considered in the investigation. One of those questions is whether or not the collision was avoidable. The wreck did happen late at night, after all; could the driver of the Charger have been overly fatigued? Have driver distraction or impairment been ruled out? What about mechanical malfunction or product defects with the Charger itself? Was there a steering mechanism issue or brake failure?
When everything is said and done, the loved ones left behind by the victim deserve a clear and detailed understand as to how and why the accident took place. In my experience, that kind of clarity simply can’t be provided by surface-level investigation. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—are as meticulous and openminded as they need to be in order to get to the bottom of it.
