How Did This Accident Occur?
A lot of people just see a single-vehicle accident and assume the driver did something wrong. While things like fatigue, distraction, and unsafe speeds are common, they’re not the only factors that need to be investigated.
For example, I don’t see nearly enough crash reports mention if a vehicle had any kind of automatic driving features. In recent years, a lot of vehicles have things like lane assistance or crash avoidance. If there’s some kind of malfunction, it could easily lead to a driver losing control of their vehicles. Diagnosing that, however, requires experienced and well-equipped professionals inspecting the victim’s vehicle. More often than not, authorities just let vehicles get towed off to the wreck yards where they’re demolished or repaired before there can be a proper inspection.
I’m not saying that happened here, but it’s important for victims and families to know when something like that slips through the cracks. If it does, that could be a sign other important possible factors are being overlooked, as well.
Does that seem like reasonable skepticism, or do you think that’s too much? Let me know what you think in the comments.
