While it’s encouraging that authorities seem to be recommending charges for a driver leaving the scene of an accident, does that tell the whole story? Have they looked into why that driver allegedly fled?
A lot of the time, drivers who leave a crash scene do so because there’s something specific they want to hide from authorities. It could be something straight-forward like a warrant, or it could be something challenging like drunk driving after being unlawfully over-served by a bar.
Whatever happened here, it sometimes takes victims and families demanding answers to get investigators to dig beneath the surface. Hopefully authorities didn’t simply move on once they felt they had a “bad guy” to blame.
