How Did This Accident Occur?
Initial reports say this crash happened as a semi-truck was backing out a parking lot on F.M. 3002, but we don’t know if the truck driver had a spotter to help with that maneuver or if the trailer had proper lighting and reflectors. These are scenarios that investigators should consider as they work to reconstruct this accident.
That effort likely will start with authorities gathering physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time of the crash.
The trucking company bears some scrutiny as well, to ensure it properly vetted and trained its drivers. Maintenance records will show if the truck was overdue for any repairs before the crash.
A thorough investigation will provide the Chevrolet driver’s family with a clear picture of what happened here.
