Jalyn Fletcher, Teen Injured in Car Accident in Anderson County, TX

It appears that 23-year-old Jalyn Fletcher was in a Nissan Versa going northbound on F.M. 2419. While crossing C.R. 163, authorities say a westbound pickup failed to yield at the stop sign, pulling into the path of the Nissan. Due to this, the Nissan crashed into the driver’s side of the pickup.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

Fletcher had injuries described as serious due to the collision while the teen driver of the pickup had apparently moderate injuries. Is there any specific information that can explain this discrepancy? Generally speaking, the more seriously injured person in crashes like tends to be the one whose door was t-boned rather than the other way around. There could be a reasonable explanation here, but this can sometimes be a red flag that something unusual caused the crash to have more serious consequences than it normally would. Is that something authorities have looked into?
