Accident Report

August 28, 2026, Jake Fisher was injured due to a single-car accident at approximately 10:00 p.m. along Farm to Market 678.

According to authorities, 18-year-old Jake Fisher was traveling in a southbound Dodge Ram 2500 pickup truck on F.M. 678 in the vicinity north of the Hogan Lane intersection when the accident took place. Officials indicate that there was apparently a vehicle parked in the traffic lane which the Dodge purportedly dodged. However, it was ultimately involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a tree.

Fisher reportedly sustained serious injuries over the course of the accident. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s good that the pickup truck was able to veer in order to avoid the parked an unoccupied vehicle; but it does beg the questions of why it was still involved in a single-vehicle collision with the tree. Some people might chalk the wreck up to driver error, but after over three decades in this line of work, I’m not willing to settle on that conclusion without more details. For example, what if the Dodge’s steering mechanism was faulty, making it difficult or impossible to regain control after veering from the possible collision? Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or a third party—are being meticulous and openminded enough to consider the less likely possibilities. After all, the people affected by this accident deserve more than the vague assumptions that often result from surface-level investigation.
