Dallas, TX — May 28, 2024, Jacquelyn Cruz and Giselle Lopez were killed in a pedestrian versus car accident shortly before 4:30 p.m. along I.H. 35E.

According to authorities, seven people—28-year-old Jacquelyn Cruz, 20-year-old Giselle Lopez, a 59-year-old woman, an 11-year-old boy, and three girls ages two, six, and four—were traveling in a northbound Honda Accord on the RL Thornton Freeway, I.H. 35E, in the vicinity north of Illinois Avenue when the accident took place.

Officials indicate that the Honda came to a stop in the active lanes of the freeway and Cruz and Lopez exited the vehicle due to a flat tire. Officials indicate that a northbound Nissan Rogue collided with both pedestrians and the stopped Honda.

Both Cruz and Lopez sustained reportedly fatal injuries as a result of the accident. No other injuries have been reported. Additional details pertaining to this incident are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
