How Did This Accident Occur?

If the allegations here are true, then things might seem pretty open-and-shut. If authorities charge someone for intoxication assault, that’s usually a sign that drunk driving was the cause of the accident. What can surprise people, though, is when drunk driving is just half the story. Have authorities looked into whether or not negligent over-service of alcohol contributed to the crash?

To put it simply, a lot of drunk driving wrecks involve drunk drivers coming from nearby bars, restaurants, or other establishments. If investigations show that an alcohol provider unlawfully over-served the drunk driver, that establishment can also be responsible for contributing to the accident.

Unfortunately, across the hundreds of investigations into negligent alcohol providers I’ve been a part of, I’ve rarely seen authorities look into this on their own. They tend to put all of their focus on the drunk drivers and the evidence that’s readily available at the scene. As much as a drunk driver deserves to be held accountable for their actions, it’s important negligent alcohol providers also face accountability. Otherwise, they can simply continue putting our communities in danger unchecked.

So, have authorities really pinned down the cause for this accident, or are they letting an accomplice ride off into the sunset? That’s up to more thorough investigations to say for sure.
