How Did This Accident Occur?
When a vehicle leaves the road at this time of night, it’s easy to assume it was because the driver was distracted or fatigued, but experience has taught me that assumptions are not the right basis for determining what caused any traffic accident. Such conclusions must be based on facts.
The investigation into this crash likely will be built on vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and any available video footage, while cell phone records could show what the driver was doing at the time.
If investigators suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this accident, a qualified expert should examine the Lincoln before it is repaired or scrapped. Most law enforcement agencies aren’t equipped for such inspections, but the injured driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
