How Did This Accident Occur?
Authorities said that this crash happened while one vehicle was backing up. Was that driver trying to make a u-turn? Were they leaving a local business? Was this due to a parking lot that has a poor layout or signs blocking the view of the road? Was there any kind of traffic control for this, or was someone just backing up into the road assuming people would stop? How much time did the car on Euclid have to stop, if any at all?
These are just some of the questions that come to mind for me. I can only hope investigators are asking similar questions. It might surprise folks how many car accidents I’ve seen where authorities just focused on whatever the most obvious details were and let other important information slip through the cracks. If that happens, it may be up to independent investigators to step in and pick up the slack.
If anyone is local to the area and familiar with this intersection, is it normal for drivers to back up into the roadway? Let me know in the comments.
