Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

I talk a lot about the importance of ensuring there are thorough investigations after single-vehicle wrecks. Ones with atypical vehicles like a moped are only more worth that caution.

The reality is these types of accidents don’t always get the attention they deserve. Authorities might overlook factors that aren’t obvious at the scene of the crash. For example, single-vehicle crashes can involve mechanical defects, medical emergencies, bars illegally over-serving drivers, road design flaws, and even hit-and-runs that may not be immediately apparent. That’s as true for typical cars as it is for motorcycles, scooters, and mopeds. In order for the evidence to speak for itself, investigations have to be able to ensure none of that evidence slips through the cracks.
