Detroit, MI — January 31, 2025, a boy was killed and a woman was injured in a hyperbaric chamber explosion accident at 8:00 a.m. off Liverrois Boulevard.
According to initial details about the accident, it happened at The Oxford Center located off the corner of Liverrois and Kirts Boulevard.
Right now, exact circumstances remain under investigation. It appears that a 5-year-old Royal Oak boy was inside of a hyperbaric chamber. Somehow, an explosion occurred that resulted in the child suffering fatal injuries. The child’s mother was nearby and reportedly injured by the explosion.

These medical machines are no doubt incredibly complex, and that means it’s likely going to take independent experts experienced with these devices to get to the bottom of what went wrong. It’s possible the machine was defective. This may have just been a freak, unavoidable accident. It’s also possible that this facility failed to follow industry-standard safety procedures. Maybe a new or poorly trained employee made a mistake. At the end of the day, this is likely far beyond the scope of a typical police investigation. Hopefully steps are being taken to put the incident in the right hands.
