Houston, TX — October 2, 2025, six people were injured as the result of an explosion accident that happened around 11:08 a.m. on Texas Avenue.
According to initial details about the accident, it took place at the Holiday Inn off the corner of Texas Avenue and Austin Street.
Current statements about the accident say that it involved a tankless water heater. Somehow, a natural gas line connected to the heater exploded. Six construction workers nearby were reportedly injured by the explosion and resulting debris.
Those six workers were taken from the scene for treatment. It’s unclear if any injuries were serious. An exact cause for the explosion has yet to be determined.

There obviously will have to be a close look at the equipment here, how it was installed or maintained, and what ultimately caused the explosion. On top of that, though, Texas work accident law happens to be more complex than in any other state in the country. Despite what many people think, there isn’t always a guaranteed path for getting workers the help they need to get back on their feet.
So while some folks may be content to brush this off as just something for OSHA to work on, the reality is their efforts alone are rarely enough to resolve serious work accidents in Texas. More often, there needs to be a prompt, thorough investigation from independent professionals both to address the problems that led to the accident and to see there’s a fair resolution for the workers and families affected.
