Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

There are many reasons a driver might flee an accident scene, especially at this time of night. Just a few minutes after last call, I have to wonder if alcohol contributed to the accident. I’ve handled several hit-and-run accident cases throughout my career, and a lot of them end up leading to an investigation into a bar for unlawfully over-serving the driver, who then fled to hide the fact they were drunk. It’s possible this crash involved other circumstances, but it’d be irresponsible not to consider such a likely possibility.
