The causal factors that led to the crash are still unclear. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the pickup truck failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly veered left, entering the inside southbound lane and colliding with the back right corner of a southbound Toyota Camry. The collision caused the Camry to spin counter-clockwise over the center turn lane and both of the northbound lanes of the highway before coming to rest facing northwest in the east shoulder.

The 28-year-old woman who had been a passenger in the Camry incurred suspected serious injuries as a result of the crash. She was transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

The driver of the Ranger reportedly fled the scene without stopping to render aid to the victims. He was later located by law enforcement. Authorities have recommended charges of failure to stop and render aid in a collision involving serious bodily injury.

Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
