San Antonio, TX — April 12, 2024, one person was injured in a hit-and-run accident shortly before 10:30 p.m. along Interstate Highway 35.
According to authorities, a 30-year-old man was traveling in a northbound Toyota Matrix on Interstate Highway 35 approaching Southcross Boulevard when the accident occurred.

Officials indicate that, for as yet unknown reasons, the Matrix failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It reportedly crashed into a center median before coming to a stop in the center lane of the highway. The driver of the Matrix allegedly fled the scene on foot, abandoning the disabled vehicle. In order to avoid a collision with the abandoned Matrix, a northbound bus attempted an evasive maneuver by swerving to one side; however, this led to a collision with a Chevy Silverado and a Toyota Corolla. The crash led to the Silverado losing control, crashing into the wall on the right side of the roadway, and overturning, coming to rest on its side.
A 26-year-old woman who had been a passenger in the pickup truck incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck. She was taken to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported. The suspect driver has reportedly been located by authorities and faces multiple charges.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identity of the victim—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
